More than 100 second-graders from the district visited Woodbury Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics on Oct. 14 as part of the American Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile initiative.

In conjunction with the Henry Schein Company, which provided the funding for the visit, and Dr. Doug Schildhaus, the students traveled by bus to Woodbury to get a dental education, checkup and cleaning free of charge.

Each student met with the dentist and hygienist during the visit. Students rotated through different stations while they weren’t in the dentists’ chairs including a magic show and an educational portion on foods to keep their teeth healthy.

“The staff was so child-friendly; it was such a great experience for our students,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Bannon.
