Middle School pays tribute to 9/11 victims

Students, faculty and administrators at Copiague Middle School honored and remembered the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks during a ceremony.

Principal Andrew Lagnado read a poem over the public announcement system and offered some insightful words. “By never forgetting and always remembering, it minimizes the chances of history repeating itself,” Mr. Lagnado said. “That is why we remember 9-11-01 in such a powerful way each year and it is most certainly why we must teach our younger generation the same. By doing so, we try to do right by those who lost their lives, those who continue to suffer and those who protect us today.”

Members of the band, led by Timothy Gavin, played “Taps” to close out the remembrance ceremony.
