Following a successful athletic season, the Booster Club at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School hosted its annual varsity winter sports awards dinner to honor the talent and dedication of student-athletes on boys and girls winter track, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, step team, cheerleading and boys and girls bowling.

Individual students and teams were admired and awarded for their hard work throughout the season. In addition to presenting athletes with a varsity letter, certificate and pin, special individual awards included most improved player, most valued player and the coach’s awards. Additionally, senior and basketball player Steven Szabo was awarded the Jim Mahoney Memorial Award.

Continuing tradition, nine Golden Eagle awards were presented to students from each team with the highest cumulative grade point average. This year, Ashley Burgos (girls bowling), Jade Dickenson (step team), Jonathan Gudel (boys bowling), David Hararah (wrestling), Ashley Hudson (girls basketball), Jenna Langan (cheerleading), Steven Szabo (boys basketball), Sofie Wilson (girls track) and Marcus Weeks (boys track) were recipients of the Golden Eagle awards.
