In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, students at Susan E. Wiley Elementary participated in a special assembly that honored the Irish heritage through dance.

During the presentation, members of the Hirten Irish Dance School, along with director Nancy Hirten, performed various styles of Irish step dancing. The students learned this traditional dance uses a hard or soft shoe, which alters the types of sounds and movements the dancer performs.

While following along with the Hirten dancers, Copiague students performed basic Irish dance steps as Hirten played her violin.
