Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School senior Peter McKenzie recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his football career by playing on Stony Brook University’s Division I football team in the fall. Family members and coaches surrounded the talented Copiague Eagles football player as he finalized his commitment to become a Stony Brook Seawolf.

Passionate for the sport, McKenzie worked hard as a wide receiver on offense and linebacker on defense while a member of Copiague’s football program. For his exceptional work ethic and athletic abilities, he was named to the All-County football team this past season.

While working to obtain his degree in athletic training, McKenzie will play as a wide receiver for the Seawolves.

“This opportunity is well deserved,” said Copiague football coach Kenneth Rittenhouse. “Peter McKenzie is a true student-athlete as he applied himself both in the classroom and on the field. He comes from a supportive family and earned every one of his accolades through hard work. He is the perfect candidate to represent the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School.”
